The United States of America could supply almost a quarter of its petroleum needs through the Gulf of Guinea, which might cut sharply a dependence on the Middle East. Sao Tome and Principe, the two little islands that form Africa's smallest nation that share ownership of the offshore oil fields with Nigeria could produce plenty of oil.

Worrisome crossings: Europe's overburdened railroads
Article Abstract:
Human error and too many other forms of transportation are seen as reasons for Europe's multiple rail accidents. A totally computerized system that monitors speed control and routes of all railroads would bring almost complete safety. Also, emphasizing freight over trucking would lower risk.

Vienna by the sea

A traveler named some of Trieste, Italy's preserved Italian cultural heritage, which only few tourists have visited. Trieste was home to author James Joyce and The University of Trieste has documents of Joyce's life in the place. It is also proud of the baroque-styled Miramare Castle.
