Are you ready for the Euro? Europe on the eve of single currency
Article Abstract:
The first step in introducing the euro currency for the 11 members of the EMU occurs Jan. 1, 1999. It will be used for noncash transactions, including credit-card purchases and traveler's check transactions. The paper money of the EMU members will remain in use until Jul. 1, 2002. Euro notes and coins will appear on Jan. 1, 2002.
