Renting a car in some countries of Europe is still an affordable expense. It allows travelers more flexibility in their schedules. Rental surcharges can be expensive, including value-added taxes and collision-damage waiver. The deals offered by rental agencies in each country are listed.

Many car rental firms screen a potential customer's driving record before a contract is signed, but Alamo announced in Jun 1995, that it was dropping the practice. Other charges can include an extra fee for a second driver and a surcharge for drivers aged 21-24.
