Can Acela change the way we travel? Amtrak is tyring to lure passengers away from the airlines, and save its own neck in the process
Article Abstract:
Amtrak's efforts to attract passengers to railroad travel over air travel include the introduction of the Acela, a higher-speed train. However, a comparison of the Acela's service from Boston, MA, to New York, NY, reveals that the train is an hour slower than an airplane. Ways to improve Amtrak's chances of making a profit are examined.
