U.S. workers receive a wide range of employee benefits
Article Abstract:
Data from the 1989 and 1990 Bureau of Labor Statistics Employee Benefits Surveys were presented. A total of 78 million employees, of which 65 million were full-time private industry workers while 13 million were state and local government workers, were covered by the surveys. Results indicate that more than 80% of employees were covered by medical care benefits and 81% received life insurance coverage. Employees also received additional retirement benefits from their employers, aside from those provided by the federal Social Security System.
