A father and writer recounts his experiences of visiting the Death Valley with his son David.The valley, which has air temperatures over 120 degrees Fahrenheit in summer is the hottest and lowest place in the US. Both found pines and bristlecone in the valley.

Along the John Muir Trail
Article Abstract:
The John Muir Trail runs for 212 miles in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Tips are given for planning a hike on the trail. All camping on the trail requires a wilderness permit from the national park or national forest where the trip begins.
