Endurance, Fidelity, Intelligence: The 1925 serum run made heroes of Alaska sled dogs
Article Abstract:
Highlights are presented of the famous dog-run of 1925 in freezing Alaska, which in record-breaking time brought a life-saving serum to Nome, which saved the lives of many children dying of diphtheria. It is reported that dogs still run the trails in Alaska in memory of the life-saving serum run, while a monument in Manhattan pays tribute 'to the indomitable spirit' of the sled dogs.
