Elizabeth Peratrovich, a Tlingit Indian of Southeast Alaska and president of the Alaska Native Sisterhood, is profiled in the light of a performance by actress Diane E. Benson of her one-woman show "When My Spirit Raised Its Hands: The Story of Elizabeth Peratrovich". A speech by Peratrovich in front of the Alaska Territorial Legislature was responsible for the passage of the 1945 Anti-Discrimination Act.

Haines idyll
Article Abstract:
A personal account of a trip to Haines, Alaska. Haines was initially a summer fishing camp for Tlingit Indians before naturalist John Muir and missionary S. Hall Young arrived their in 1879 and established a mission. The town is the home to the 48,000-acre Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, home to 4,000 eagles, and offers a number of attractions during the summer for tourists.
