The book 'Always Running' by Chicago, IL, poet Luis Rodriguez dealt with his experiences as a member of a gang in the Los Angeles, CA, area. The book, which was intended as a warning to his son, brought Rodriguez literary fame, but it perhaps came too late for his son, Ramiro, who has been sentenced to 28 years in jail.
