Newark's other riots
Article Abstract:
The way in which Alex Portnoff's Army unit fought its way into the Nordhausen concentration camp in Germany, in April 1945, against the Nazis is presented. Portnoff was shocked by the scope of the senseless killings of the Jews, and hence, he and other Jewish men and some Italians, had beaten back the hatred of a sizeable pro-Nazi movement among German immigrants living and working around Newark.
