Douglass Wallop wrote a book 'The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant', which became the best seller, a musical and movie of which followed. He however could not repeat the success of his first bestseller, as his books on various subjects failed one after the other, and thus his dream to be a major American novelist remained incomplete.
