Our readers want safer planes, and child seats too

A reader poll showed that most passengers do not feel that airlines are taking sufficient precautions for safe air travel. Approximately 80% of the respondents said they would willingly pay more for added safety measures. Child-restraint seats and more federal control are desirable.

Russian domestic air travel may be considered the worst in the world since there are no standards guiding the industry. Local flights suffer from undisciplined pilots, untrained flight personnel, overloaded planes and lack of standard amenities such as seatbelts.
