Article Abstract:
Artist Pat McGuire uses fish that she catches in the Copper River delta in Alaska to make her art. McGuire practices the Japanese art of Gyotaku, of printing fish, in her work. Gyotaku is still the Japanese fisherman's preferred way of documenting the size of his fish, with the walls of fishing shops in Japan frequently being covered with black ink fish prints.

The grayling is a photogenic fish with a big appetite, and is prized in Alaska as a sport fish and can survive in the coldest reaches of the Arctic where most other fish fail. The Kenai Peninsula's Crescent Creek is a perfect place for grayling as the pea-gravel bottom provides ideal spawning grounds for graylings.

Char embroiled
Article Abstract:
Arctic char fish and Dolly Varden trout are difficult to tell apart even by trained biologists. Their lifestyles are uniquely fascinating. Lake trout and brook trout are chars. The Dolly's closest relative is the arctic char.
