Some 5 million people in the UK have a TESSA, (tax exempt savings account), although they were replaced by ISAs (individual savings accounts) in April 1999. Even though TESSAs are no longer available, investors can still switch providers to ensure they are receiving the best interest rates. Points to consider before deciding to switch include interest rates, transfer charge, bonuses and length of term.
