Moaning Cavern is California's biggest single-chambered limestone cavern. Those who want to explore it have to brave narrow rock passages with names such as Godzilla's Nostril, Column Squeeze and Meat Grinder. To get to the bottom of the 180-ft hole, explorers have to free-hang for about 35 ft.

Desperately seeking Orcas

The killer whales migrate to British Columbia's Johnstone Strait during summer to feed on salmon on their way back to spawning rivers. The Haida Indians call them 'skaana', the supernatural beings of the sea. For scientists, they are Orcinus orca, the largest member of the dolphin family.
