Article Abstract:
The Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network reported that from mid-1997 to November 1998 40 to 50% of the coral reefs in the world were dead or dying of bleaching, thought to be caused by rising sea temperatures. Major damage is also caused by anchors, speedboats and dynamite fishing.

Hotel rooms in France are expected to be scarce and expensive in June and July 1998 because the country will host the sixteenth World Cup. The World Cup will be attended by 32 nations and an estimated 400,000 soccer fans are expected to visit France.
