The Nikonova AN-94: replacement for the Kalashnikov?
Article Abstract:
The Nikonova AN-94 selective-fire rifle is touted to be superior in performance to its much venerated predecessor, the AK-47 and AK-74. The AN-94 has the unique 'blow-back shifted pulse' system which in effect makes the rifle both recoil- and gas-operated. The AN-94's mean firing between failures is an astonishing 40,000 rounds.
