The National Rifle Association has awarded its 1998 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year to Officer Diana Dunigan and its 1998 Sybil Ludington Women's Freedom Award to Tanya K Metaksa. Both women are truly outstanding achievers and serve as exceptional role models in their chosen careers.

Retired LAPD detective John Pride wins third title
Article Abstract:
Pride and Dorcia Meador, a police officer from Fort Worth, TX, won the top awards in the 1998 NRA National Police Shooting Championships. He used a Smith and Wesson Model 14 and it was his third time to win the championships. Meador almost swept the events in the women's division.

The NRA Women's Policies Committee named the Women's Freedom Award in honor of Sybil Ludington, a Revolutionary War heroine . The award was first awarded to Marion Hammer, a staunch Second Amendment advocate. Patriotism, freedom and courageous will are their common traits.
