The big one
Article Abstract:
Two hurricanes battered New Jersey within a stretch of seven days in August 1955, causing six deaths, destruction of nearly 100 million dollars in property damage and massive flooding along the Delaware River. When the storms passed and the water receded, the Army Corps of Engineers compiled a comprehensive river basin study, constructing a system of dams, spillways and reinforcements along the Delaware, which minimized the damage caused due to Hurricane Evan in 2005.
