The Pulaski Skyway endures as a major route for commuters headed in and out of Manhattan, after being suspended over marshland and rivers 72 years ago. It was hailed as a marvel on its completion in 1932 and the towering concrete-and-steel mass would run through some of the world's most congested roads and tip the dynamic of New York ports in New Jersey's favor.
