Joshua Nkomo
Article Abstract:
Joshua Nkomo was the former vice-president of Zimbabwe, though at one time he was seen as the natural leader and it was though that he would be president. Zimbabwe was born of Rhodesia, which was a society that whites dominated until 1980. Nkomo headed the National Democratic Party which split, and Robert Mugabe eventually became leader of one faction which later performed well in elections, allowing Mugabe to become the leader of Zimbabwe. Nkomo suffered imprisonment and exile, and chose to return and act as a unifying force in Zimbabwe.
