Larry Wakefield was an English painter who initially became popular in France and Germany rather than the UK. He studied at the Cheltenham College of Art, England, and Gottingen University, Germany. He also worked as an architect and planner and was concerned about art in an urban context. He taught aesthetics, design and painting at Southhampton Institute for 20 years and was also involved in German environmental art projects. His last works related images, words and music.

The Clean Air Act amendments of 1990 call for the use of oxygenated fuel and reformulated gasoline in the country's most polluted areas, starting on Jan 1, 1995. Both fuels decrease carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons, but they may also produce less mileage and energy.
