Winchester goes to war
Article Abstract:
The firearms manufactured by Winchester Repeating Arms Co. are an integral part of the American culture. However, the guns made by the company for the US military that served during the two World Wars have been disregarded. In 1866, Winchester was organized after which it introduced its Model 1866 rifle.

19th century military Winchesters
Article Abstract:
The US military was less enthusiastic about the rifles and carbines produced by Winchester Repeating Arms Co in the 19th century than civilian users were. Efforts by the company to gain support from the military are considered.
