DeeDee Jonrowe shared her insights into sled dog racing. The female musher competes in the Iditarod race that runs from Anchorage, AK, to the finish line in Nome, AK. Jonrowe credits winning races to proper dog training.

The Skwentna Sweeties

The checkpoint in Skwentna, AK, for the Iditarod sled dog race is run by a group of women known as the 'Skwentna Sweeties.' They were officially recognized by the Alaska Legislature several years ago.

Remembering Redington
Article Abstract:
Redington died of cancer of the esophagus, at the age of 82, on Jun 24, 1999. He is remembered as the person primary responsible for making the Idiatrod Trail Sled Dog Race a worldwide institution.
