A growing coactivator network
Article Abstract:
Gene transcription experiments on steroids, thyroids, retinoids and vitamin D reveal the direct interaction of nuclear hormone receptors with the coactivator CREB-binding protein, CBP, or P300 protein through their ligand-binding domains. Analysis of the nuclear-receptor-mediated transactivation provides evidence of two receptor-interaction domains, namely, the amino-terminal 101 amino acids and amino acids 356-495. The triggering of RNA polymerase II gives rise to transcription and CBP/P300 proteins influences the transactivation in a hormone-dependent manner.

Inactivation of p27(super Kip1) by the viral E1A oncoprotein in TGF-beta-treated cells
Article Abstract:
The adenovirus oncoprotein E1A inactivates cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p27(super Kip1) in TGF-beta-treated cells. E1A binds to the kinase inhibitor and abolishes its inhibitory effect, resulting in the restoration of cyclin-cdk2 kinase complex activity. E1A interacts with p27(super Kip1) through sequences located in the C-terminal of p27(Kip1). E1A overcomes the TGF-beta suppression of cell growth by inactivating p27(super Kip 1).

Dimerization inhibits the activity of receptor-like protein-tyrosine phosphatase-alpha
Article Abstract:
Protein-tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) are needed to regulate tyrosine phosphorylation in certain processes such as growth and differentiation. It is proposed that dimerization can negatively regulate activity, by the interaction of an inhibitory wedge . Dimerization was found to inhibit the activity of a full-length RPTP in vivo.
