A patch-scale perspective
Article Abstract:
A close association was found between geomorphological heterogeneity and biotic diversity in a study of a deciduous forest in the northeastern US. Sites with higher geomorphological heterogeneity had significantly greater richness and diversity of woody plant species. The most significant predictors of biodiversity were variation in soil drainage and in aspect.

Nesting success of neotropical migrant songbirds in a highly fragmented landscape
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that conservation efforts applied to small forests and woodlots can make an impact on the nesting success of migrant songbirds. Although prevailing theory held that fragmented habitats would not respond to conservation, studies show that thrush and Grosbeak populations responded well to measures such as protection from parasitism.
