The new $4 million ASPCA shelter in New York City, NY has been criticized for its design, location and its treatment of cats by various animal welfare groups. The ASPCA has been allowing New York City paramedics to practice tube insertion on anaesthized cats.

Evelyn Wood: the mayor of kitty city

Evelyn Wood looks after some 50 stray or abandoned cats in her own home in Chico, CA, until she can find suitable homes for them. She was also jointly responsible for the Chico Cat Coalition which looks after park cats.

Treasure the cat
