Absolute-phase phenomena in photoionization with few-cycle laser pulses
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the development of a technique for the experimental demonstration of photoelectron emissions which are influenced by the absolute phase of a short laser pulse. The shot-to-shot analysis of the yield of electrons is discussed.

A laser that turns down the heat
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the development of a laser which can be used to chill a suitable target material. The use of lasers to cool vapours or dilute gases to form a Bose-Einstein condensate is discussed.
