Acceptance of novel foods in capuchin monkeys: do specific social facilitation and visual stimulus enhancement play a role?
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that social influences encourage the acquisition of a safe diet has been tested in tufted capuchin monkeys, Cebus apella. This work suggests that social influences are not specifically directed to the matching food. It seems that these monkeys do not take account of the colour of the food group members are eating to make decisions between unusual foods of the same or another colour.

Capuchin monkeys, Cebus apella, fail to understand a cooperative task
Article Abstract:
Capuchin monkeys are able to work together to pull two handles which are too far apart to be pulled by a single monkey and thus obtain a reward. However, they do not seem to understand the role of the partner and do not take account of the partner's behaviour. This finding raises the question of what cooperation is. When cooperation is considered in a comparative context, it is important to take account of the behavioural tendencies and the cognitive abilities that contribute to cooperation.
