The drug nevirapine is used to help prevent mother-to-baby transmission of HIV, but the stories published by the Associated Press have raised the issue of effectiveness of the drug. Scientists and patient advocates came together to defend an HIV treatment against claims that a key clinical trial of the drug was flawed.
