Among the rice fields, Japan tests the international waters
Article Abstract:
The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor project center in Naka, Japan will become truly international with the infusion of dozens of researchers from Russia, the US and Europe by 1995. As of Dec 1992 only three non-Japanese researchers are present and some problems have surfaced. The researchers are without an international school for their children and are having problems finding technicians competent in fusion design and English. However, Japan's Science and Technology Agency and Atomic Energy Research Institute are hurrying to meet these needs.
