Amplification of chirality in two-dimensional enantiomorphous lattices
Article Abstract:
The chiral hydrocarbon heptahelicene on a Cu(III) surface does not undergo two-dimensional spontaneous resolution into enantiomers, but still shows enantiomorphism on a mesoscopic length scale that is readily amplified. It was observed that small enantiomeric excess suffices to ensure that the entire molecular monolayer consists of domains having only one of two possible, non-superimposable, mirror-like lattice structures.

Enantioselective silyl protection of alcohols catalysed by an amino-acid-based small molecule
Article Abstract:
A chiral catalyst is described that promotes the enantioselective protection of a secondary alcohol as one of the most commonly used protected forms of an alcohol, a silyl ether. Chiral catalysts for selective formation of commonly used protecting groups such as silyl ethers are found to enhance the ability of chemical synthesis to deliver, in a more practical and efficient manner, important organic molecules.

Enantioselective halocyclization of polyprenoids induced by nucleophilic phosphoramidites
Article Abstract:
A nucleophilic promoter is used to describe the enantioselective halocyclization of a simple polyprenoids, which is induced by achiral nucleophilic phosphorus compounds. The analysis has shown that chiral phosphoramidites have promoted the enantioselective halocyclization of simple polyprenoids with N-iodosuccinimide to give iodinated cycle products in up to 99% enantiomeric excess and diastereomeric excess.
