An African origin for the intimate association between humans and Helicobacter pylori
Article Abstract:
The sequences from a large data set of bacterial strains are used to show that the genetic diversity in Helicobacter pylori decreases with geographic distance from east Africa, which is considered to be the cradle of modern humans. The results have shown that anatomically modern humans were already infected by Helicobacter pylori before their migrations from Africa and that Helicobacter pylori has remained intimately associated with their human host populations ever since.

First insights into the biodiversity and biogeography of the Southern Ocean deep sea
Article Abstract:
A new data from the sampling expedition in the deep Weddell Sea and adjacent areas have revealed high levels of new biodiversity. The findings have challenged the suggestions that deep-sea diversity is depressed in the Southern Ocean and have provided a basis for exploring the evolutionary significance of the biogeographic patterns seen in the remote environment.

Helicobacter exploits integrin for type IV secretion and kinase activation
Article Abstract:
The study provides insights into the role of integrins, CagL protein in Helicobacter pylori-induced pathogenesis. CagL is a specialized adhesin that might be used as a new molecular tool for understanding integrin signalling.
