Antibiotic interactions that select against resistance
Article Abstract:
A direct competition assay between doxycycline-resistant and doxycycline-sensitive Escherichia coli is used to show the differential selection that could be inverted in a hyper-antagonistic class of drug combinations. The findings point to a trade-off between the effect of drug interactions on absolute potency and the relative competitive selection that they impose on emerging resistant populations.

Defective membrane repair in dysferlin-deficient muscular dystrophy
Article Abstract:
Development of muscular dystrophy in dysferlin-deficient muscle membrane is investigated. The results indicated that disruption of the muscle membrane repair machinery is responsible for dysferlin-deficient muscle degeneration, and highlight the importance of this basic cellular mechanism of membrane resealing in human disease.
