Back to the future
Article Abstract:
The influence of the geographical arrangement of the continents and the atmospheric carbon dioxide on the warm global temperatures in the Cretaceous period was examined. A general circulation model called GENESIS was used for the analysis. A mean global cooling of 0.2 degrees Celsius was determined for the changing from present-day to Cretaceous geography. Furthermore, it is suggested that the climate sensitivity to doubling of atmospheric CO2 is near 4.5 degrees Celsius.

Breaking up is hard to do
Article Abstract:
An extensive new study of the transition from stratocumulus to cumulus clouds reveals a more complex mechanism than was thought, with a transition zone between the two types where cumulus clouds appeared to form beneath or within the stratocumulus layer. The formation may be due to solar heating. This melange did not appear in dirty air from industrial regions, indicating one more way that air pollution may affect cloud formation and the climate.
