Be diverse, be predictable
Article Abstract:
Research suggests that species richness may be a vital factor in predicting microbial communities. Researchers built replicated microcosms with various levels of species richness and functional diversity using small metazoans and protists, bacteria and algae. Some researchers found that the predictability of density measurements and biomass grew when the amount of species per functional group grew. Other researchers discovered that increasing species richness led to a decrease in the among-replicate and temporal variation in carbon dioxide production.

Symbiotic fungal endophytes control insect host-parasite interaction webs
Article Abstract:
The influence of the symbiotic relationship between microorganisms and plants is investigated by studying the structure of an aphid-parasite food web naturally assembled on fungas-infected grass.
