Behavioural and cardiovascular effects of disrupting the angiotensin II type-2 receptor gene in mice
Article Abstract:
The blood pressure regulator angiotensin binds to two receptors, including the type-2 G-protein-coupled receptor (AT2). This receptor participates in the central nervous system and cardiovascular activities which are regulated by the renin-angiotensin system. In mice devoid of the gene encoding the AT2 receptor, an abnormal drinking response to water deficiency and a rise in vasopressin response to injection of angiotensin II are observed. The embryonic growth and baseline blood pressure are uninfluenced.

Structure of Cre recombinase complexed with DNA in a site-specific recombination synapse
Article Abstract:
Recombinase enzymes recognize specific DNA sequences during site-specific DNA recombination. Cre, a bacteriophage recombinase, catalyses site-specific recombination between loxP sites. An intermediate in the recombination reaction is revealed, challenging models of site-specific recomination requiring major changes in quaternary structure.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 protects from severe acute lung failure
Article Abstract:
The angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) and the angiotensin II type 2 receptor (AT2) protect mice from severe acute lung injury induced by acid aspiration or sepsis is reported. The findings state that mice deficient for ACE show markedly improved disease, and also that the recombinant ACE2 can protect mice from acute lung injury.
