CJD survey offers Britain a glimmer of hope
Article Abstract:
A project to assess the extent of infection with new variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (the human version of BSE) in Britain has yielded reassuring results. None of more than 3,000 tissue samples removed during routine operations tested positive for the prion protein believed to underlie the disease, apparently ruling out any potential major epidemic.
