Canoeing for wildlife
Article Abstract:
Lake Kariba, along Zimbabwe's border with Zambia, is a wonderful place to observe African wildlife at all times of the year. Canoes provide the best vantage points for watching the animals that graze along the lake's shore. The lake, which is 18 miles wide and 168 miles long, was created when the Rhodesian government dammed the Zambezi River during the 1950s. Steve Edwards' Musango Safari Camp provides rustic lodging and excellent guide services for lake visitors. The camp is part of Zimbabwe's Communal Areas Management Program for Indigenous Resources, which benefits both wildlife and indigenous Zimbabweans.
