China's deadly drug problem
Article Abstract:
A corruption scandal at China's top drug regulatory agency led to the arrest of Zheng Xiaoyu, the former head of the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) between 1998 to June 2005 for approving poor quality drugs. More than ten people died across the country after being injected with the antibiotic clindamycin, which was approved during his tenure without being properly sterilized.
