Clinal size variation in Canada geese affects morphometric discrimination techniques
Article Abstract:
The bodies of Canada geese generally decrease in size the greater the latitude at which they nest. Such variability is used to recognize 11 subspecies of Canada geese found in North America, which are further divided into 12 different geographical populations. Morphometric discrimination techniques are used to distinguish between interior Canada geese in the Mississippi Flyway and giant Canada Geese. An evaluation of morphometric discrimination techniques using skull length to determine subspecies reveals that, while the technique is generally accurate, clinical size should be taken into consideration when developing the model.

Influence of body size and condition on harvest and survival of juvenile Canada geese
Article Abstract:
Research suggests that food availability on Akimiski Island significantly affects Canada goose populations in the Nunavut region. Studies focusing on low survival rates between 1994 and 1996 are presented. The authors posit that hunting restrictions may not result in a population increase for geese nesting on Akimiski Island, as the problem is related to food availability.

Breeding-season survival of mallard females in the Prairie Pothole region of Canada
Article Abstract:
Research demonstrates that female mallard duck survival is contingent on the prevention of wetland loss. Findings also showed that female survival is lowest during nesting. Implications for habitat improvement are discussed.
