Clonal dispersion in proliferative layers of developing cerebral cortex
Article Abstract:
Progenitors of rat cerebral cortex cells were labelled with replication-incompetent retroviruses during early stages of cortex neurogenesis. The aim was to determine the temporal sequence of clonal dispersion. Labelling was performed 14-15 days after conception, and determination of labelled daughter cells were performed 3, 6 or 10 days later. The results showed that progenitor cells can migrate and may account for the wide dispersal of sibling cells in the developing forebrain.
