Cluster-derived structures and conductance fluctuations in nanowires
Article Abstract:
Structures identified in small gas-phase sodium clusters can be used to describe the structures created by metal atoms when sodium metal nanowires are stretched to a diameter of only a small number of atoms. First-principle molecular dynamics simulations are used to demonstrate the phenomenum. The atomic-scale contacts' conductance and electronic spectral properties show dynamical thermal fluctuations on a timescale of sub-picoseconds.

Electronic connection to the interior of a mesoporous insulator with nanowires of crystalline RuO2
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the use of the cryptogenic decomposition of RuO4 to enable the synthesis of a mesoporous composite which is electronically conductive. The composite is composed of a three-dimensional web of RuO2.
