Coherence of gamma-band EEG activity as a basis for associative learning
Article Abstract:
Communication between different regions of the brain provide the basis for the integration of sensory information and other functions needed for learning, memory, perception and information processing. Hebb's concept that this is achieved by assemblies of cells with strong synaptic linkages, has intrigued researchers. Increased gamma-band activity is shown to be involved in associative learning, and gamma-band coherence is found to increase between regions of the brain receiving stimuli involved in an associative-learning procedure.

Hippocampus-dependent learning facilitated by a monoclonal antibody or D-cycloserine
Article Abstract:
Intraventricular infusions of the monoclonal antibody B6B21 doubled rates of learning in hippocampus-dependent trace eye blink conditioning in rabbits. Peripheral injections of D-cycloserine had a similar effect on learning rates. These results indicate that improved stimulation of the glycine coagonist site on the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor/channel complex assists one type of associative learning and may be helpful with other types.

Antibodies from libraries
Article Abstract:
Combinatorial antibody techniques are likely to be the preferred method for producing monoclonal antibodies despite the complications posed by the scrambling of heavy (H) and light chains as pointed out by E. Gherardi and C. Milstein. Moreover, combinatorial libraries will probably overcome at least the H chains' problems well enough to yield a plethora of high-affinity human antibody fragments.
