The editorial presents an overview of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, its international importance, and the lack of media coverage it received in the United States compared to other countries. The role of public awareness in forming environmental policy and the absence of science information in the mass media are examined.

Research on Santa Rosa beach mice indicates that artificial light negatively impacts foraging behavior. Two types of long-wavelength lights were tested.
