Managing protected woodlands: fuelwood collection and law enforcement in Lake Malawi National Park
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that law enforcement has little impact on fuelwood harvesting in Lake Malawi National Park in Africa. The low probability of being detected and the lightness of penalties incurred encourage poachers to continue gathering wood illegally. More substantial deterrents are necessary to curb poaching and promote forest conservation within park grounds.
