Consistency of temperament in bighorn ewes and correlates with behaviour and life history
Article Abstract:
An investigation is conducted into differences in temperament among bighorn ewes, which may determine their reaction to unknown situations, social activities, reproduction and predation. Behaviour in the field is compared to behaviour during handling.

Predator-induced natural selection on temperament in bighorn ewes
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to check the variation in temperament with fitness in animals, by estimating the strength of selection on female boldness and docility on bighorn sheep ewes. The result suggests that predator-induced selection will favor bold and nondocile ewes.

Density-dependent mother-yearling association in bighorn sheep
Article Abstract:
The results corroborate earlier observations that the typical ovid social system does not demonstrate strong post-weaning relation between mothers and daughters. Powerful relations between mothers and yearlings, mainly for mothers that have given birth to a new lamb but lost it, were discovered in bighorn sheep, Ovis canadensis, at high density. The most important quality of these ewes was that they had milk and did not need to have a new lamb. The mother-yearling relation seemed more powerful for female than male yearlings whereas maternal age had no impact.
