Constellations in a cellular universe
Article Abstract:
Researchers in proteomics, or the systematic study of proteins, need to adopt a technology for communicating information. Although a genome has a fixed number of genes, the number of proteins that those genes produce can be much larger, since a single gene can produce multiple protein products. Once all those proteins are known, it will be necessary to determine the function of each. Tagging each type of protein and using mass spectrometry to organize them could help researchers working on identifying and classifying proteins.

A protein interaction network for pluripotency of embryonic stem cells
Article Abstract:
The protein network is explored in which Nanog operates in mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells. Patterns of several Nanog-associated proteins are identified, indicating that the network is highly enriched for nuclear factors for nuclear factors that are individually critical for maintenance of the ES cell state and co-regulated on differentiation.
