Days of molecular medicine: Stem cell biology and human disease: Ron McKay
Article Abstract:
Ron McKay is chief of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at the US National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke in the US and his research includes the cloning of a homogeneous stem cell population from a single cell. He feels that as stem cells build tissues, all medicine would come through the stem cell and that the stem cell field would become an important tool in all areas of medicine.

Barriers to progress in systems biology
Article Abstract:
A survey carried out by the World Technology Evaluation Center (WTEC) in Baltimore, Maryland concludes that the absence of a suitable infrastructure for systems biology, particularly for data and software standardization, is a major impediment to further progress. It is suggested that annual International Conferences on Systems Biology is the appropriate venue to discuss about these problems.
