Dendritic growth of electrohydrodynamic convection in a nematic liquid crystal
Article Abstract:
The formation of finger-like dendrites by nematic liquid crystals was analyzed during electrohydrodynamic convection. Induction of electrohydrodynamic convective flow via magnetic field application in nematic liquid crystals indicated the formation of finger-like dendritic patterns that invade the equilibrium state during the initial process of convection. The reaction also exhibits the pervasive growth mechanism that leads to the formation of dendrites.

Global azimuthal seismic anisotropy and the unique plate-motion deformation of Australia
Article Abstract:
No systematic difference is there in the depth location of azimuthal anisotropy between continents and oceans, except beneath Australia. Australia is the only continental plate where azimuthal anisotropy correlates significantly with present-day plate motion.
